SLO Bytes PC User's Group - Presentation Information

SLO Bytes is a San Luis Obispo County (California) PC Users Group dedicated to educate its members in the use of personal computers, digital devices and software.  Our web site is http://www.slobytes.org.

Meetings, Where and When
Member-attended meetings are open to the public at no cost.  They are held at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Hall [max capacity 250] at 520 Dana Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, (805) 543-9891, approximately five miles from the San Luis Obispo County Airport.  The SLO Bytes' web site contains a map showing the meeting location.

With rare exceptions, meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month.  Special Interest Groups (SIGs) meet from 12:45 to 2:00 pm and, following a break and set-up time from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, the General Meeting with guest speakers is between 2:30 and 4:00 pm.

Guest Speakers and Presentation Themes
Speakers are individuals from government agencies, universities, consultant organizations, major computer software/hardware manufacturers or local businesses who are willing to share their computer-related expertise with us.  Presentations are usually technical in content, either tutorials or product-related demonstrations, geared to provide both information and understanding to the audience.

Product Information and Sales
Speakers are welcome to distribute product-descriptive literature to attendees.  Vendors may sell their computer-related products at the meetings provided they retain the responsibility for sales tax account-ability and offer attendees a product sales price discount below retail.  We encourage them providing gratis copies of their products that will be distributed to members selected in a raffle at the end of the meeting.

Speaker Information and Arrival Time
To eliminate any uncertainty with respect to scheduling and ensure that the talk will be well supported and appropriately attended, speakers are requested to provide us the name of the organization you represent and its web site address, your organization, position, e-mail address, office or home telephone number, and unique presentation support requirements as soon as possible

Speakers are encouraged to bring their own computers to assure the accessibility of systems that adequately satisfy their needs.  SLO Bytes has a wireless DSL connection and a projection system (w/ 1024x768 projected image resolution graphics) for use during presentations.

Send a few sentences outlining the scope and emphasis of your presentation by e mail at least a month before the scheduled presentation date. This material will be used in our newsletter, meeting announcements and press releases.

Supply a local phone number where we may reach you should it be necessary (if from out of town).

Arrive at the meeting hall no later than 2 pm on the presentation day to allow sufficient time for equipment setup, etc.
